The highlight of the event was the consistent weeklong run by New Zealander Daniel Bray. A second-time SuperNats driver, Bray returned this year determined to redeem himself from a DNF in the S1 main event last fall. With this unfinished business, Bray battled some of the top up-and-coming shifter kart drivers of North America and definitely held his own. Qualifying third, he would go on to finish third, fourth and fifth in the heat races to start outside row one for the main event on SuperSunday. Starting outside row one, Bray ran second for the majority of the 30-lap feature. Heavy pressure put the Kiwi back to fourth with five laps to go, but he battled back to cross the line in second, getting the chance to stand on the SuperNationals podium.

Seven international drivers will be aboard Aluminos-prepped GP Karts at this year’s SuperNats. Two competitors will make the long journey from New Zealand as Daniel Bray and Brad Alexander will represent their country at the annual event. Bray is returning to Vegas after retiring early during last year’s S1 final while running at the front, while Alexander will be making his SuperNats debut in the S4 category. The country of Denmark will be represented by three drivers. Michael Zakrisen of MZ Racing - the Denmark GP Kart importer - will race in G1 while fellow countrymen Henrik Hojman and Michael Anderson will race in the headline SuperPro category. Sergio Machado from Brazil and Nicola Galloni of Italy have competed with Aluminos this year during the ProKart Challenge season and they will continue at the SuperNats in the S4 and TaG Senior divisions.
Team Aluminos completed the inaugural running of the Superkarts! USA ProKart Challenge North series at the sixth and final round of the schedule, which was held this past weekend at the Jim Russell International Karting Center at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California. Two drivers, including Aluminos owner Rob Soares, began the final fight with a bid at a class championship, while the entire tent welcomed new GP Kart importer AJ Noud of Rocky Mountain Kart Works of Loveland, Colorado to the team. Noud was on hand to visit with the Aluminos crew, one of the top GP Kart teams in the country, and to strap on the helmet for some wheel-to-wheel action. The former SKUSA SuperNationals Formula S2 winner would earn a podium on the day in the S3 class.
