The karting community is currently mourning another one of its family members who has passed away too soon. Will Preston, 24, of Danville, California was a line technician at Kevin & Connors Auto Shop after graduating from Northern Arizona University in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in Science Mechanical Engineering. Will passed away in a motorcycle accident last week.

Preston was a long-time member and test driver for the Aluminos karting team, competing for several seasons in shifterkart divisions. Will’s biggest victory came at the 2015 Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix in the S2 class, and then later that year placing on the podium with a fifth-place finish at the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals. His karting resume included many events at the California ProKart Challenge and SKUSA Pro Tour, along with club and regional events in Northern California.
There will be a Life Celebration of Will Preston on Friday, March 18 from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm PT at the Magee House – Hap Magee Ranch Park – 1025 La Gonda Way, Danville, CA 94526.
